After a long while I entered this famous coffee shop again at Matalino St.  Since I used to frequent this nook I instantly noticed this Mr. Newbie barista right in front of me.  He let me spell my three-letter name and gave that cutie smile (is this a dejavu?) after saying it loud.  Is this sounding like a Koreanovela already? Oh well maybe since this Starbucks franchise is located at the heart of the Korean district here in Quezon City.  Let me continue.  I gave him my credit card for payment.  The POS terminal seems to help prolong our moment as it dials so slowly.  Mr. Cutie asked me then if I can let him hold my card first until the sale is printed.  I give him a nod (without thinking of a possible fraud activity) and waited patiently for my drink.

As soon as I my usual drink is prepared I quietly sit on my lucky table.  I opened my netbook and do my usual craft, to finish my long standing blog drafts.  Without a hint he approached my table asking for my signature.  I gave it to finish the sale and he smiled again.  After a fruitful hour in the shop I prepared to go home.  To my surprise his shift has just ended and we almost walk to the door side by side.

A night after, I found myself opening the same door I left.  It is a very rainy Wednesday night.  With a wet hair look carrying 2 bags on my shoulder I felt I looked like a worn-out umbrella.  As I am busy looking for a quiet table with the shop so crowded with final exam and paper-cramming students I heard a familiar voice, “Good evening Ms. Reg.”  OMG, it’s him and his perky smile.  How on earth did he remember my name?  He even apologized, with his eyes rolling in cuteness, not being able to accommodate me tonight.    Oh well its ok, I know I’ll be back tomorrow.

Good thing I wear my lipstick and my blush on at the moment as I start another story within this coffee shop corner.  It’s the same place that inspired me to write the poem below early this year.  But take note the barista tonight is not the same barista mentioned.  Though they have a thing in common, I failed to get their names.  I know now what to do next. 🙂   Enjoy reading again guys.  I might compose another one soon.

A Spontaneous Day

[ I decided to take a time off from work one fine day of March.  Nothing fancy, I just want to give time to myself and to my writing craft….Here’s a glimpse of how my day turned out, unexpectedly!  🙂 ]

While looking for a place to eat one Wednesday noon

I found myself inside a lunch nook so well-known

A 41-peso Beach House barbeque and rice meal with a soup add-on

just like the good old UP days made my tummy happy.

And a bonus treat for a facebook bee

is a free Wi-Fi around the campus, even under a tree

Surfing while leaves are falling down on me

seems like a wonderful scene in the romantic Seoul streets.

It’s probably the day I’m the luckiest

as I step on a new found corner at Matalino St.

the charming barista poked me his smile so sweet

and by now he knows my favorite drink and calls it Regie’s Hot Chocolatey.

Now I have to get back to why I’m here

hoping to put  a dot on my long overdue poem draft

but it turns out I scribbled a new one in an instant.

Oh well, I tell you that today is a blast!

my ever reliable writing notebook and pens =)

cozy and so conducive to writing corner

Regie’s Hot Chocolatey – Iced version =p

We all dreaded Mondays. It’s back to work after a short weekend that we always wanted to extend. But just today I can say that there are some exemptions to that rule. After my whole Sunday was spent in prepping up a long overdue Kim Hyun Joong blog (will post this promise in a few days) and an already sleepy me stayed awake watching the much anticipated comeback of Mr. Christian Bautista in The Kitchen Musical TV series premiere last night,  these are the things that surprised me and made me jump in excitement on a Monday morning. 🙂

A retweet by Christian Friends’ twitter account (official fans club of Christian Bautista) on my Kitchen Musical tweet reply to a friend.

My smile caught attention of my fellow commuters in the FX ride. I was going gaga when I opened my twitter this morning on my way to work. It’s as if Christian himself tweeted me for the second time around.  Flashback: Even though I’m too sleepy last night waiting for the 11pm premiere on ABS-CBN I still managed to watch it till the end and make that tweet not expecting a reaction. Oh yeah, it’s me and my clever blogger ideas that made me worthy of a retweet!  Even his Indonesian fans tweeted me back.   This just proves that I’m still his most avid fan in my own sense of the word.  I always say that I’m not that excited anymore to see Christian everytime he has been far away for a long time, that I’m not so eager waiting for his comeback.  But when I saw him last night on TV I can’t help it, he is so gorgeous and realized I missed him so much.  I’m just in denial since I waited for him so long, as if I didn’t see him in that ultimate Christian B day on A Special Symphony’s red carpet premiere.  Sorry guys if I sounded like a girlfriend but he just inspires me in the deepest sense (emo mode).  Yahoo, Christian is back!  :)

Got my General Assembly (GA) invite for the Korean heartthrob Kim Hyun Joong’s official fans club Henecia Philippines.

Yes don’t be surprised, I really joined the Korean star’s fans club. 🙂  I’m super envy my fellow Henecians (fan club members) who already got their GA invites last night. My yahoo unread messages inbox is still empty. I’m 99% sure it was sent through my work email so for that reason I’m excited to go to work on a Monday. I’m not disappointed, it’s there and it’s the first email I read and opened. There’s this unprecedented thrill when I saw Kim Hyun Joong’s forever handsome face on the official invite and the fact that they are giving loot bags full of KHJ items. Now I have to decide if I will still go to the Citibank Community day early in the morning or just go straight to this lunch general assembly of Korean addicts.  Anyway no matter what I’m just super overly excited for Oct 15, too anxious on what to wear (wishing our K-pop  golden boy would grace us).  This is my first time to attend a fans club gathering in my entire life. 🙂   Nevermind the Korean haters.  I just love Kim Hyun Joong.   So my next is for Christian Bautista’s CF fans club.  Oh well, dont be surprised that I’m also a member now. 🙂

A possible workshop to attend for a short story writing this coming Oct 21.

Still browsing through my work emails another one tickled my attention. It’s from Filipinas Heritage Library – the organization that opened me up to my writing craft last year. It’s a short story writing workshop this October. I paused for a while before I clicked the link. Hmmm, why not.  Though I know fiction is not my forte this workshop information popped an idea on looking for a writing boot camp of some sort.   Now I know how to spend my 2-week work leave in November.  This is it; maybe I should really give focus to my writing craft in the remaining months of 2011. Truly a change of priorities for me and just lie low on corporate stress in which I have immersed myself for the last 9 years.

I know these things are so trivial (particularly the first two) but this is me now. I just enjoy and learned to appreciate simple things that others may find childish. I’m just a late bloomer on these.  I’ve been too serious for the first 31 years of my life, now it’s time to just laugh and do what I love most.

Today I had to leave from work earlier to attend to my dentist appointment. It’s a pain both physically and financially since I have to do this twice or once a month after I got this sort of jaw and bite problems last summer.  But with a Monday full of surprises I felt I’m going to a mall for shopping.  I dropped my office bag and changed to a a casual top and shorts outfit for my regular check-up. I ended up doing grocery shopping (with a few head turns from cute guys in the shopping complex) after seeing my dentist. Who says going to a clinic is dragging?

Before I end there’s one more thing I forgot.  Just when I thought my day is complete an old friend sent a message of concern that touched my heart.  He is just a concerned individual I guess and thank you for that.  Don’t be too curious friends hahaha.

With the malls now decorated with Christmas trees, there’s a lot of reason to be jolly these ber months right, Reg? Aja aja!  Fighting! 🙂
